Winter's almost over and Spring has almost sprung; time to trade in those bulky sweaters for something a little sleeker. Spring fashion calls for exposed midriffs and body hugging styles.
'Barely-there' belly shirts and super low jeans are still in, but those pretty peasant shirts that were in last year are gone, so don't go into hiding, let it all hang out. Even if your abs are more flab then fab you can use these simple tricks to give you a Brittany-esque mid-section in no time. Tanner bodies look leaner and defined, this is especially true for your ab area.
For a quick fix without the sun, take a shower and exfoliate thoroughly. Then, while wearing gloves, rub in self tanner all over your body, but focusing on your tummy area. Be sure to blend so that you ensure an even tan. Avoid the tougher areas of your skin such as your ankles, knees, elbows and neck, as these can turn darker. Wait a couple of minutes for tanner to set in before getting dressed. Most self tanners darken within an hour or two. In a couple of hours your skin should be at a bronze hue.
This is the time to look at yourself in the light and check for streaking. This is also the time to add one last ab application. This will define the ab area and add a look of muscle tone. As a sexy touch, mix gold toned dusting powder with your body lotion and apply to abs and shoulders. Want to show off that sexy tummy for the night? Avoid foods such as salt, carbohydrates (bread, pasta, rice), and sugary treats like soda. These foods can make you appear bloated because you will retain water and that will make your abdomen appear larger and rounder. If you want a flat stomach, avoid these foods for the day and nosh on fruits and veggies instead.
You're not killing yourself, because you are just sticking to it for a day, and you'll feel and look thinner in your midsection. Clothes can conceal and reveal, and why not do a little bit of both? Be daring with a cropped sweater or top that reaches right under the bustline and pair it with some low jeans. Not that bold? Opt for midriff tops that have a pointed or asymmetrical hem as these styles have a flattering fit. Corseted styled tops also work well to hide any imperfections and can actually create a new waistline. While these tops are not the most comfortable, they do work and never go out of style.
