Cottage Cheese May Look Appetizing At A Summer BBQ, But Not When It Rears Its Ugly Head On The Body.End Cellulite With Endermologie In Time For The Official Start Of Summer

New York, NY June 2, 2003
– According to recent tabloid photos, what do J-Lo, Sharon Stone, Goldie Hawn and Jerry Hall all have in common? Cellulite. Almost all women have cellulite. The culprits are weight gain, genetic predisposition and inevitable hormone changes throughout life. These factors cause the fat cells in the subcutaneous layer—the layer just under the skin—to increase as much as 300 times their original size and stick together inside the pockets in which they are enclosed. The pockets are stretched upward while the fibers in between the pockets are strained; circulation is inhibited, and toxins and water are trapped. The result is dreaded cellulite. Unfortunately, cellulite doesn’t respond well to weight loss, exercise, creams, or even surgical liposuction. The ONLY FDA-APPROVED method to reduce cellulite is that of Endermologie®. The Cellulite Endermologie Center in Manhattan devotes its full focus to eradicating this pesky problem.

Endermologie has been phenomenally successful in the treatment of cellulite, as evidenced by the fact that, in 1996, Endermologie machines in the U.S. numbered 120. Today they number 800. Endermologie® is the nonsurgical method to reduce cellulite fatty tissue and combat those bulging fat deposits that cause cellulite with this noninvasive method that improves skin tone and increases circulation. In fact, Endermologie® increases circulation 200% that of manual massage, which is the most popular of all spa treatments. Clinically, the effectiveness of Endermologie® lies in its action upon cutaneous and subcutaneous structures such as connective and fatty tissue, as well as vascular and lymphatic circulation. As a result, the tissue is brought back to a state of equilibrium, smoothing the skin and removing the cellulite. As another benefit, Endermologie® also relieves muscle aches and spasms.

Catherine Woods is one of the first Endermologie® technicians to perform sessions at the center. She explains that the connective tissue of the dermis and hypodermis, which can be compared to a gel, “becomes more fluid with the first few mobilizing maneuvers.” The combined action of the motorized rollers that successfully fold and unfold the skin, along with the maneuvers and the machine’s gentle suction, cause the density of the tissue to change, improving cellular and fluid exchanges, she said. Release and decompression of the various vascular, arterial, venous, and lymphatic structures immediately result in an influx of blood, along with its nourishing elements. “Tissues become transformed,” and the result is a smoother appearance of the dermis and hypodermis, Ms. Woods said. Endermologie® deep massages the affected areas in a way that can’t be otherwise duplicated. Studies have shown that circulation is increased, collagen function is restored, and toxins and abnormal water buildup are expelled as the connective fibers are stretched. The result is a smoother body.

What is Cellulite? It is the appearance of an unattractive dimpled skin or “dimpled fat” on or around the outer thighs, buttocks and other body areas where large areas of fat are found in close proximity to the skin. Women are more affected by cellulite formation than men, especially on the thighs. Cellulite formations start in women during puberty as hormones change. Most women over age 18 have some degree of cellulite. In men, loose fat on the hips (love handles), chest (pectoral) area and the thighs can resemble cellulite. A person does not have to be overweight to develop this dimpled skin called cellulite, and cellulite is not reduced by weight loss. The skin is tethered down by stringlike tissues that pull it inward, toward the interior of the body. The tension of these strings pulls sections of fat in along with them. Cellulite has been compared with the dimples in a mattress that are caused by the strings that hold the “tucks” down.

Endermologie is the world’s first patented technology, and the only one FDA-approved, to do all this:

Combat those fatty deposits that cause cellulite, reduce it nonsurgically, improve skin tone, temporarily yet effectively reduce the appearance of cellulite, increase circulation, relieve minor muscle aches and pains, and relax muscle spasms. Endermologie® is a comprehensive, nonsurgical approach that embraces the physical and aesthetic needs of the whole body, using a patented technique proven safe and effective.

Does it really work? Yes, it does work, as demonstrated over the past 12 years in thousands of case studies from around the world. It was enough proof for the FDA to authorize the manufacturer to claim temporary reduction in the appearance of cellulite. The FDA is renowned for its strictest scientific standards worldwide. How many treatments can I have in one week? The average number of treatments is two per week, although as many as three treatments per week are available if your schedule permits. If you are simultaneously in the process of losing a significant amount of weight or if you have a long-term problematic cellulite condition, one treatment per month is recommended as a follow-up after the 14 to 20 twice-weekly sessions are completed. How long does a session last? Sessions last an average of 35 to 45 minutes. Do you just work on my problem areas? The technicians focus on your problem areas, such as buttocks, thighs and waistlines, but attention is given to other areas to stimulate general circulation and elimination. How many sessions before I see results? Usually people see changes within five or six sessions, but 14 is the average number of suggested treatments. Monthly maintenance sessions are suggested thereafter.

Does Endermologie® help me lose weight? No, the Endermologie® machine has not been proven to help with weight loss. The FDA allows the following claims in relation to beauty: to temporarily reduce the appearance of cellulite and to reduce circumferential body measurements in cellulite-treated areas; it is not a weight-loss device. In fact, the results of Endermologie® will likely be enhanced if you are at your ideal body weight. Does this replace exercise? No. In fact, it is highly recommended that you add diet and exercise to the routine you follow while undergoing Endermologie® treatments. In most cases, this improves results. Why is a full body stocking similar to pantyhose worn when receiving treatments? The body stocking allows the Endermologie® treatment head to glide more easily over the body and insures optimal hygiene.

Why not just buy a hand-held machine for $99? First, logically, it is like comparing a hand-held vacuum to the best, highest tech, commercial vacuum. Second and most important, it would not be FDA-approved and would have no scientific evidence to back it. What is the difference between Endermologie® and liposuction? Can it be used instead of liposuction? Endermologie®, unlike liposuction, doesn’t involve breaking through the skin in any way; liposuction is surgery to remove a quantity of tissue. Some people try Endermologie® and then choose not to receive liposuction or to delay it. Some choose to receive both, as part of a dual treatment of their problems. Perhaps the most important difference is that liposuction doesn’t remove cellulite or the appearance of cellulite. “In fact,” says Endermologie® technician Ms. Woods, “many of our clients have already undergone liposuction and come to the Cellulite Endermologie Center to remove the cellulite that still persists after liposuction.”

What sensations will I experience during the treatment? Does it hurt?

The sensation is similar to a deep massage. Most clients find it quite pleasant. The strength of the treatment can be individually adjusted to your comfort level. What will I feel afterward? Most clients report a feeling of relaxation and an increase in energy. Since the lymphatic system is stimulated, it is important for the success of your treatment that you drink at least two liters of water every day during the treatment phase, in order to aid in elimination.

Are there any side effects?

Minor, temporary bruising may occur. Can I receive treatments if I am pregnant? No correlation has been found between Endermologie® and complications in pregnancy. However, it is recommended that during pregnancy you do NOT receive treatments. Can I have Endermologie® treatments if I'm planning to have liposuction? Yes! Endermologie® is recommended by many plastic surgeons before and after liposuction—especially after. Endermologie® counteracts the rippling and hard fat deposits than can occur with liposuction.
